This assignment require us to design one postcard (both front and back) to promote, or create awareness of a chosen youth theme. The theme can be international, regional or local. I had decided to choose the theme Singapore Youth Olympics Games 2010. For this assignment, I came out with 3 different designs. For the 1st design, I decided to use words only with no drawing because during that time I had no idea what can I draw. Below are my color scheme and the back design:
The feedback I got from my classmate is they suggest that I can try to draw it out and make it look like a crossword puzzle. However, I find that this design looked too simple therefore I wanted to come out with a 2nd design. My idea for the 2nd design is to draw out one of the sports played in the games and I decided to choose archery. Below are my 2nd design and the back design:
I showed this design to my tutor during the consultation and we both find that the back design looked nicer than the front. My tutor suggest me to include the back design to the front, probably I can change the archery target board to my back design. In the end, due to the reason that I still find my front design look a bit too simple, I decided to change the 2nd design of my postcard front entirely but still include the back design to my front.
The idea for my 3rd design is that I wanted my postcard to look cool and colorful therefore I used many different colors in my design. I also took the idea from my 2nd design however I only draw out some of the balls used in the games. Below are my 3rd design color scheme and the chosen postcard front and is the final design that I had included in my portfolio (the postcard back is similar to the 2nd design):
